Death Valley National Park, California/Nevada
Death Valley is a mysterious place. How can things survive in a place called Death? They do! Death Valley is the largest national park outside of Alaska, below sea level, with high temps and drought yet it supports life, in fact, is full of life, even fish. The Timbisha Shoshone also have an Indian Village inside Death Valley. It is an amazing place with snow capped mountains, dunes, desert, a waterfall and salt flats. Take your time and explore it all since there is so much diversity in one place, one very large place. You will need water, food, a full tank of gas (as there is a lot of driving) and plenty of time. Some roads have vehicle size limits, we were in a 32 foot rv and could not take all of the routes.
There are camping and rv parks inside the park. We stayed at a rv park in nearby Shoshone, CA that had natural hot springs! The town doesn’t have much more to offer but the rv park was reasonably priced and not crowded. I advise buying gas just over the Nevada line since it is usually much cheaper than California.
While I hope you enjoy my pics, you should go see for yourself! One piece of advice, stay on the trail! Especially in the salt flats, there are salt bogs off the path, trust me, we found out the hard way! LOL! 😛
